Bolton claims handler closed following investigations!
Posted 06 May 2010
The latest in a string of claims management firms to close down has been named as Ratio Money, the company fronted by Coronation Street star, Michael Le Vell, better known as his soap character, Kevin Webster. This year has not fared well for the controversial claims management sector so far, with 14 claims handlers being suspended over the last few months. The biggest firm to fall was Cartel Client Review which was closed down and had its licence suspended by the Ministry of Justice following numerous complaints from clients.
Claiming to be able to get “unfair” credit card debts written off in exchange for an upfront fee of £295, the company has announced on its website that it has ceased trading and Mr Le Vell is said to have quit his post as director last month.
News has emerged of yet another claims management firm that has been temporarily shut by the Ministry of Justice whilst investigations take place. Bolton-based company, Claim 4 Gain, was set up eighteen months ago and is thought to have handled over five hundred cases, according to a report in the Daily Mail newspaper.
Although it was licensed as a claims management company, it was never commissioned by the Ministry of Justice. Before being raided last month and having its license suspended as investigations continue, customers were charged a fee of £350 for their credit card agreements to be reviewed by Claim 4 Gain solicitors.
Despite Claim 4 Gain operating in Bolton, it used a small solicitor firm called Stenfield in Harrow, Middlesex to look at the credit agreements.
Maheesh Patel of Stenfield told the Daily Mail that Claim 4 Gain sent his firm “around five or six hundred” credit agreements. Although there are some cases that are still ongoing, Mr Patel admitted that “probably only about two” cases had seen their debts deemed unenforceable and written off.
Once again we would like to offer anyone of you who are affected by these advance fees companies use our link with Claims Financial which charges no upfront fee at all. If you are one of the 500+ applicants who have given money to Claim 4 Gain THEN CONTACT US ASAP!!
